The 35 year old Swede Thobias Fredriksson who won a World Cup Sprint in Changchun in 2006 has decided to return to China and join his friends from the National Team for Summer Ski Sprint, this time held in Inner Mongolia, June 9th – 11th.
Fredriksson is an experienced skier who started his career in the middle of the 90’s. He is a 3 times Swedish Sprint Champion, 2 times winner of the Sprint World Cup and an Olympic as well as a World Ski Championships gold medalist.
Fredriksson has had some problems with his throat and shins the last years and he now trains and competes outside the Swedish National Team with the help of his coach Janne.
Fredriksson says that he had to choose between going all out and trying to get back in top shape or just retire. He chose trying to take back a place in the National team, possibly for the coming World Cup and Vancouver Olympics 2010. Hopefully the decision to go to China and Summer Ski Sprint is something that can lead him back on this road and inspire to more great results for him in the season ahead.
