Yesterday’s distance race winners Kusti Kittilae and Frida Hallquist seem to take a liking to Xiwuqi’s ski course as they were also the fastest qualifiers in the individual ski sprint over 1.2km this morning. Weather conditions are significantly milder today as the wind blows a lot less than yesterday.
Kittilae puts pressure on Bill Impola, who only managed the 13th time in the qualifications, while the women’s competition started without Vasaloppet China winner Chen Shuang. The best 16 skiers move on the next round, which takes place after lunch. While Kittilae, who finished second in the ski sprint here last year, had a two-second advantage over second-placed Adam Johansson, Hallquist only had five hundredths of a second bonus over Lisa Svensson.
