Things are seriously heating up in this year’s China Tour de Ski as Adam Johansson and Julia Jansson made up quite some ground in the overall classification today. Both Johansson and Jansson took their second stage victories during the 1.2km ski sprint at the Tianshan Tianchi International Ski Resort in Xinjiang.
Julia Jansson crowned herself as the queen of Tianshan Tianchi as she outsprinted Frida Hallqvist and Xiwuqi winner Jenni Hoylanen less than 24 hours after her distance race win. As Lisa Svensson did not make it to the final, Hallqvist is back alone in the lead in the overall but she certainly feels the pressure from Jansson now as the gap between the two Swedish girls is down to … six points only.
Adam Johansson looks like the fastest skier on the Tour. Today he held off Johan Eriksson, Frenchman Remi Damevin and his younger brother Emil Johansson in the final. Kusti Kittilae got eliminated in the semi final and sees his advantage in the overall classification shrink from 80 points to merely 12. Bill Impola again could not impress in the ski sprint and seems out of contention for the overall now. Nevertheless, with Kittilae and Johansson the final two stages in Nalati will be conclusive in the men’s competition as well.
