Nordic Ways proudly announces, Citizen Watch Company will be the official sponsor for the first ever Tour de Ski China. The company was established in 1924 and during the past 25 year period the company has risen to its current position as the world’s largest watchmaker, a distinction Citizen has held every year since 1986. More recently, Citizen has staked out a new position as the leader in Ecologically Friendly timekeeping with its Eco-Drive collection of light powered watches. Fueled by light, they never need a battery.
Last Friday Nordic Ways hosted a press conference in Radisson SAS hotel in Beijing with reference to the Shangri-La stage in Tour De Ski China. Shangri-La will be the host city for the first of four stages in this ski series that starts on December 28. Thereby Shangri-La will also be the first host city for a ski event in Southern China. Tour De Ski will last for eight days and will take place in three different parts of China. The Chinese National Team as well as at least 40 of the FIS top 100 skiers will take part.
Unfortunately, Nordic Ways shall inform all the international elite cross country skiers, that the 2011 edition of the China Summer Ski Sprint is cancelled. The reason for this bad news is that the agreed arrangements in Inner Mongolia have been cancelled by the local partners of Nordic Ways.
We know that many skiers, with very good international credentials, had been looking forward to compete in China this summer.
The 35 year old Swede Thobias Fredriksson who won a World Cup Sprint in Changchun in 2006 has decided to return to China and join his friends from the National Team for Summer Ski Sprint, this time held in Inner Mongolia, June 9th - 11th.
Fredriksson is an experienced skier who started his career in the middle of the 90’s. He is a 3 times Swedish Sprint Champion, 2 times winner of the Sprint World Cup and an Olympic as well as a World Ski Championships gold medalist.
